Strategy
In the previous text, we discussed how to initiate the study of a company and its products, raising key questions relevant to the context and explaining why understanding these points is crucial during a career transition.
In today's text, we will delve into the company's strategy, and understand how it is implemented. Furthermore, grasping the “why” behind a company's existence will help align yourself with the company's worldview.
To better comprehend the company's strategy, you can follow these points:
Mission
Refer to the company's mission statement. What is its mission in the market it operates in, and how does it fulfill that mission?
Strategy
What do you believe is the company's strategy? This may involve some discovery, but you can analyze if there are shortcomings in the company's market performance and how to address these areas for improvement.
Innovation Pipeline
Investigate the company's innovation pipeline. What new products or services are in development, and how do they align with market trends? Assess the potential impact on the company's market position.
Expansion
Explore the company's plans for expansion, both geographically and within its current market. How does the company intend to grow its presence, and what markets or regions are being targeted for expansion?
International Market Entry: Evaluate the company's approach to entering international markets. Are there specific countries or regions that the company is focusing on for expansion? Consider the challenges and opportunities associated with international expansion.
Technology Integration
Examine how the company integrates technology into its operations and services. What role does technology play in its strategy, and how is the company staying ahead in terms of innovation and digital transformation?
Digital Transformation Initiatives: Identify specific digital transformation initiatives the company is undertaking. This could include adopting new technologies, implementing automation, or enhancing online customer experiences.
SWOT
Identify the product's strengths and how the company utilizes them. What are the main weaknesses, and how should the company address them?
In the strategy, do you perceive more opportunities or threats? Is something on the horizon that could create opportunities or threaten the company's success?
Remember the matrix – it's valuable.
Challenges
Identify and prioritize the most pressing challenges the company currently faces. What are the biggest challenges for the company currently? How are they being tackled? If the company operates in a highly bureaucratic market, how is it simplifying the customer experience?
Future
What do you believe the future holds for this company? Consider new products or features that would be a natural evolution. Explore potential shifts in market trends, consumer preferences, and technological advancements that may impact the busines
Connecting these points with interviews, incorporating the company's concern for “changing the world” or its passion for global expansion, can enhance your communication.
These topics serve as a starting point, acknowledging that responding to all these aspects can be complex, especially when external to the company. The goal is not to become an expert, but to have a solid understanding and be prepared for potential questions during the interview.
The Power of Proactive Understanding
In pursuing professional opportunities, and comprehending the company to which you are applying is crucial. By dedicating time to understanding its strategy, you not only prepare more effectively for interviews but also demonstrate genuine commitment.
This proactive effort can position you as someone aligned with the company's values and goals, a fundamental factor in the hiring process.
In the next article, we will discuss how to study the company's culture.
Culture and Key Interview Questions: Finally, we will analyze the company's culture and raise some key questions to ask during the selection process. 📅 January 3rd
